About Arm Lift Surgery
A frustrating aspect when getting older or losing weight is gaining excess skin. At the Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery, we offer upper arm lift surgery, also known as a brachioplasty, as an option for anyone who cannot manage to tone and tighten this section of the arm with exercise and diet. Loose skin from the elbow to the shoulder is very typical, particularly for women and men who are advancing in age or have lost weight. Dr. Fara Movagharnia, an Atlanta, GA plastic surgeon, is very skilled in fat removal and skin tightening techniques, and he provides private consultations for surgical arm lifts. If you want to hear more information about how an upper arm lift can correct the shape of your upper arms, please schedule an appointment at the Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery today.
An upper arm lift is an aesthetic surgery that employs advanced methods to contour and remove extra skin. If you avoid sleeveless clothes because of your bat wings and would prefer them to appear trim and contoured again, you are an ideal candidate for arm lift surgery. You need to be in overall good health so that your skin will recover properly. Some of the primary signs for patients who want an arm lift are loose, excess skin on their upper arms, plus decreased tightness of the skin. It is important that you are at or near your goal weight before your procedure.
Arm Lift Reviews
"I have interviewed 4 physicians from Buckhead, Atlanta and Marietta. Upon speaking with Dr. Fara for approx. 1 hour, he was my choice. He goes in depth with you in reference to the procedure that you're planning to have. Dr. Fara is an excellent surgeon with WAY above average bedside manners. I had an arm lift and liposuction. He has been so easily able to contact via. phone and or text. His office staff again, is so very pleasant. The office itself has a calming peace upon entering. I would recommend Dr. Fara, to anyone who wants an attentive physician with excellent skills. Cynthia, Smyrna"- C.E. / Google / Aug 22, 2013
"Body Lift, adominoplasty, pubic lift and lipo - Best Surgeon in Atlanta - After significant weight loss of 80lbs and having kids, I decided to have a body lift and body contouring. The doctor I chose was Dr. Faramarz (Fara) Movagharnia. The experience with Dr. Fara and his staff has been excellent. He did a belt lipectomy and lipo of abdomen and back. Although I am still very swollen, I can see a major difference in my body. Now I have an hour glass shape! He removed 4lbs of skin from the front abdomen and 2 lbs of skin from my back. He also did lipo on my upper abdomen and upper back. The recovery will take some time and the pain is REAL! However, Dr. Fara has done everything possible to help me make comfortable. Although I am only 7 days post-op, I feel very satisfied with the results thus far. I will continue to post and update on my tummy, scars etc. Updated on 28 Jun 2016: Hello On June 10, 2016 I got an arm lift with Lipo on abs, flanks and back and arms. The Lipo on abs, flanks and back was a revision. Dr. Fara did a wonderful job on the Lipo revision! I'm so pleased with the results. I'm only about two weeks out from the arm lift and everything is going well. I'm not sure about how it looks because my arms are extremely swollen but besides that I think they look okay. I will have to update once the swelling goes down. However I can't say enough about how excellent Dr. Fara is as a person and Also love his staff. They have all been polite, caring and professional."- F. / RealSelf / Oct 16, 2015

Typically, your upper arm lift surgery will be performed in an outpatient facility, except in cases where several cosmetic surgeries are scheduled to be performed at one time. An upper arm lift may be added to other surgeries (often completed at a facility with inpatient monitoring), like a mommy makeover, tummy tuck, or thigh lift — as long as Dr. Movagharnia considers it is appropriate. Arm lift surgery is typically done with the patient under general anesthesia and can require a few hours to finish. The unwanted skin will be surgically excised starting at the elbow up to the armpit. The incision will be placed to be as concealed as possible, although it will leave a visible scar. In cases where liposuction is required to eliminate stubborn fat, this can be completed also. After the skin is pulled taut, it will be stitched in place. You will have to care for the incisions by keeping them sanitized, covered, and in compression garments.
What to Expect
A typical recovery time frame will take around two weeks with lots of rest, permitting your body time to heal. You use your arms for almost everything, so most of Dr. Movagharnia's arm lift patients are encouraged to ease their way back to their usual activities. An appointment to remove sutures will be made around ten days following surgery. Compression garments need to be kept on until you receive permission from Dr. Movagharnia. For at least 4 – 5 weeks, all strenuous activity must be eliminated, except short walks. If you notice uncontrolled bleeding, excessive swelling, fluid build-up (hematoma), signs of infection, numbness in the hands of arms, or unusual scarring, please contact the Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery for help.
